My Journey to Outdoor Cooking

Growing up, I was always more excited about the outdoors than the indoors. My family often spent weekends hiking, camping, and having cookouts. But it wasn’t until I was older that I realized just how special it was to cook in the open air. While many people view cooking as something you do indoors with appliances, I discovered that the elements—sun, wind, and fire—could create an entirely different culinary experience.

I started by cooking over a campfire. Simple foods like marshmallows, hot dogs, and foil-packet potatoes, but with each attempt, I found myself experimenting and trying new ways to infuse flavor into the food I cooked. I upgraded to portable grills and cast-iron skillets, and soon enough, I was cooking full meals, including everything from grilled seafood to mouthwatering steaks, all in the great outdoors.

It didn’t take long for me to realize that the real joy of cooking isn’t limited to the kitchen. The outdoors gives us the freedom to be creative with our cooking and to take our meals to the next level.
